Kansas Public Health Awards
In 2014, three new public health recognitions were awarded at the KAC annual conference awards luncheon in November. The 2017 award winners will be announced at the KAC annual conference. Funding to support creation of the awards comes from the Kansas Health Foundation Public Health Practice Program.
The three awards are
- Public Health Champion: Awarded by KALHD, the purpose of the KALHD Public Health Champion award is to recognize an individual who has made a significant contribution to the public health system at the local level. Nominees may include local public health professionals (employed by KALHD member departments) or other individuals who have made significant efforts to support the public health system (examples may include, but are not limited to, county commissioners/Members of the Local Board of Health, county counselors, local health officers, etc.).
- Local Public Health Department of the Year: Awarded by KALHD, the purpose of the KALHD Local Public Health Department of the Year award is to recognize a member department that has made a significant contribution to the public health system at the local level. Eligible departments are local public health departments in Kansas that are active members in the KALHD
- Public Health County of the Year: A joint award from KAC and KALHD, the purpose of the KAC/KALHD Public Health County of the Year award is to recognize the contributions of a county to the public health system. Eligibility is limited to counties that are active members of KAC with a local health department that is an active member of KALHD.
