Preparedness and Response
Western Pyramid Public Health
Region Mission Statement
The Western Pyramid is a group of public health departments from the
western Kansas counties of Finney, Greeley, Hamilton, Kearney, Lane,
Scott, Sherman, Wallace, and Wichita that collaborate and share
resources for public health emergency planning and response. In order to
recognize a biological event or naturally occurring disease outbreak in
a timely manner, the Western Pyramid strives to provide surveillance and
reporting of diseases and syndromes for the nine counties it serves.
In our endeavor to plan for and respond to a public health emergency,
we strive to prevent or minimize harm to the public by effectively
coordinating an emergency response among our partners with the ultimate
goal of maintaining the health and safety of the communities in the
Western Pyramid Public Health Region.
It shall be our mission to protect every person that lives, works, and
visits our nine-county region. We also offer assistance and support to
those counties that border our public health region during a public
health emergency.
For the Regional coordinator please contact, Melissa Wachendorfer, RN @
620-397-2809.
