How long does it take to get the results? 7 to 10 days
Who is able to receive Hepatitis A and B vaccinations? Clients 19 years of age and older seeking HIV or STD services who are either uninsured or have insurance that does not pay for vaccinations.
Who is at risk for Hepatitis C infection? Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use/needle sharing.

Family Planning Services
Family planning services provide individuals with the information and means to exercise personal choice in determining the number and spacing of children.
Services include
- family planning exam includes pelvic exam, breast and cervical screening
- diagnosis and treatment of vaginal infections
- pregnancy testing
- birth control including education and reproductive counseling
- testicular exams
- referral for infertility
- laboratory tests

Will you tell anyone I’ve been seen in the clinic? Services are confidential. Refer to our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.
How long does it take to get results? Most test results take approximately one week to return from the laboratories.
Can I do STD testing as a part of my family planning exam? If there are concerns about STDs, testing may be requested as part of the family planning annual exam. If under 25, certain STD tests are done as a routine part of the family planning annual exam.

FAQ
Do you offer sport physicals or physicals for summer school/camp? We do not provide sport physicals. You should call your family physician or healthcare provider.
My child just needs a hearing screening do you offer that? No. In Lawrence you can call Lawrence Early Childhood Special Services (USD 497) at 832-5098. In Eudora you can call the school nurse at 542-4960.
In Baldwin City you can call the school nurse for the Junior High and High School at 594-2448 and the Elementary school nurse at 594-7425.

WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children)
WIC is intended for pregnant and nursing women, infants, and children to age 5 living in Douglas County who are determined to be at nutritional risk and meet income guidelines.
Services include
- nutritious foods that supply specific nutrients
- nutrition education
- regular assessments
- breastfeeding support
You may be eligible for WIC services if you answer yes to any of the following questions:
- Are you pregnant?
- Have you had a baby recently?
- Are you breastfeeding a baby?
- Do you have a child less than 5 years old?

FAQ
How long does it take to find out if you qualify for WIC? You will find out if you qualify at the time of your WIC appointment. If you qualify, you will receive WIC benefits that day.
Can I be enrolled in WIC if I am receiving Food Stamps? Yes. You can be enrolled in both programs at the same time.
Can I qualify for WIC if I have a full-time job? As long as your income falls within the WIC guidelines for your family size and you are also found to be at nutritional risk.
Does a mom need to be on WIC before delivery to receive WIC benefits for the baby? No. You can apply for WIC after your baby is born.

Child Care Licensing Program
The goal of the Child Care Licensing Program is to help protect the health, safety and welfare of children in care away from their own homes.
Services include

How do I apply for a Licensed Day Care Home or Registered Day Care Home? Attend a pre-application meeting at the Health Department, read the Laws and Regulations, submit a completed application. You will be authorized to care for children only after receiving a temporary permit or certificate. This process may take 60 to 90 days.
When is the pre-application meeting? Pre-application meetings are held the second Monday of each month, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the first floor meeting room of the Community Health Facility, 200 Maine, Lawrence.
I’m already a licensed/registered provider and will be moving. What do I need to do? Your license/certificate will not transfer to another address. Submit an application for a new address as soon as possible. Include a statement regarding when the move will take place.
How can I find a daycare? Douglas County Child Development Association is the local resource and referral agency. Parents are given a list that contains names of registered and/or licensed homes or child care centers that have openings that fit their needs. How do I make a complaint about a daycare? Call 843-3060 and ask to speak with someone from Child Care Licensing.

Teen Independence Project
Teen Independence Project is designed to assist teen mothers to

Family-Based Sexuality Education
Family-Based Sexuality education classes are offered to preteens and their parents together to provide education and guidance concerning issues of human sexuality. Classes meet for two hours once a week for five weeks.

Project LIVELY - Case Management for the Elderly
Project LIVELY assists elderly individuals with multiple needs by coordinating the help needed to remain in their homes as long as possible.
Services include
- in-home comprehensive assessment of needs by a case manager and nurse
- arrangement of the necessary services
- on-going monitoring of the services and the individual’s changing needs
- assistance in resolving problems
Project LIVELY works with the elderly who include those
- age 60 and over living in Douglas County.

Medical Reserve Corps
The Douglas County MRC is a group of volunteers who assist our community during a public health emergency, such as an influenza epidemic, communicable disease outbreak, or an act of terrorism. Medical Reserve Corps volunteers also work together to improve the overall health and well being for our community by supporting health education initiatives in Douglas County.
Some of the jobs MRC volunteers perform include
- staffing a mass dispensing site
- providing vaccinations
- educating, counseling, and working with the public
- assisting with infectious disease outbreak investigations
Douglas County MRC volunteers can be active or inactive health professionals, retired health professionals and others with relevant health related skills.
The Douglas County Medical Reserve Corps is looking for:
